Archive for August, 2013

I introduced you all to the new 2013 Holiday Catalog yesterday, but I held back one fun little fact.

2013 Holiday Catalog

It is not just a beautiful catalog packed full of great new products plus 17 extra pages of project ideas.

It is so much more.

As you flip through the catalog you will see that many of the pages have this little red square with an exclamation point and the word INTERACTIVE.  If you download the free Layar app to your mobile device, you can use it to access the interactive features of the catalog!  All you do is use the free app to scan any page of the catalog where you see the red INTERACTIVE icon, and it will pull up a video to give you even more information and inspiration!

For example, on p. 25 of the catalog you will see the Season of Style This and That Journal (item #132277, $10.95) listed with the red icon beside it.  If you scan the page with your phone or tablet using the Layar app, you will get to see this:

Isn’t that fantastic?  The artwork in the catalog is beautiful as always, but having a video to see a product in action always gives me a better idea of how to use it and what I can do with it.

If you do not have a phone or other mobile device which will let you use the Layar app, never fear.  Stampin’ Up! has compiled ALL the interactive features on one web page for you so you can see all the videos in one place:  http://www.stampinup.com/home/show-me-how

  1. Alabama’s Sales Tax Holiday starts TODAY and runs through August 4th.  You can see the list of tax-exempt items in yesterday’s post.
  2. FREE SHIPPING on all orders $50 and up placed with me now through August 4th.  Even brand-new holiday catalog items!  Don’t miss out on this deal – just use the hostess code KUDNABB9 at checkout when you place your order online, and I will arrange to reimburse your shipping cost!  If you are a local customer (Huntsville/Madison AL), just email your order to me at stephanie.kokan@gmail.com by August 4th at 8:00 pm central time, and I will let you know your total without shipping.

Do you love that Season of Style This and That Journal?  Local customers, I am going to be doing a class on this at the end of August!  Get organized BEFORE the holiday craziness arrives so that you have time to relax and celebrate instead of running around frantically!  We will all get a Season of Style journal/planner and enjoy decorating the front cover/getting our calendars started together.

  • Date: Friday, Aug. 30th at 7:00 pm
  • Cost: $20
  • Includes:  Your very own Season of Style This and That journal plus four sheets of the coordinating designer stickers to take home and keep.  I will provide stamps, ink, and paper to decorate the front of your journal.
  • Add-ons:  If you would like to add on any extra items from the Season of Style suite (like Washi Tape or coordinating stamps) when you register for this class, I’ll cover your tax and shipping.  Let me know in your RSVP or you can order these items the night of the class.
  • RSVP by August 18th so that I may preorder your supplies for you!

It’s here, it’s here, it’s here!!!  I’ve had it in my hands since June and I’ve nearly BURST while waiting for the day I could finally share the 2013 Holiday Catalog with you.  What a great holiday catalog it is, too!  I am so excited to reveal it to you:

2013 Holiday Catalog

One of the things you will notice right away is that the format of this catalog is very different from any that you’ve seen from Stampin’ Up! before.  If you start flipping through from the beginning you will not see a single item listing until you get all the way to page 18.  That’s SEVENTEEN PAGES of nothing but project ideas and pictures of great ways to use the products that appear on the last 22 pages of the catalog.  It is definitely different and takes a little getting used to, but I love that Stampin’ Up! put so much effort into giving us lots and lots of ideas for holiday projects.

The other thing I noticed is that there are SO MANY project kits.  Of course there is the usual assortment of stamps and designer series paper and tools for the Big Shot that we always have, but the kits are exciting to me!   There are Thanksgiving place setting kits, kits to make banners to decorate your mantel for the holidays (and beyond), kits to make your own beautiful holiday cards (even one for those photo cards that I love to send!), kits to make treat bags (only $4.95 for ten!  I know what I’m doing for my kids’ classmates for Halloween and Christmas!), kits to make tags, and a kit to make designer bows.  That’s a lot of kits!  If you are the kind of person who does not have the time or energy to spend hours on Pinterest researching and planning project ideas to make from scratch, these kits are a perfect way to pull it off.  Everything is precut and prepped for you, you just put it together and accept all the compliments on your fabulous handmade project!  🙂

Heads up for my local customers, I will be doing LOTS of classes based around these project kits.  We will be making banners and wreaths galore for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, so get your mantels and walls ready for some holiday decorations done Stampin’ Up! style!

If you would like your very own copy of the 2013 Holiday Catalog to hold in your hands (and maybe put under your pillow at night like I suspect some of my stamp club members do…) please let me know!  Until then you can see it online by clicking on the catalog image above.

Now it is time for some announcements about other exciting things.  I have been away from stamping and blogging for a week while I was out of the state visiting family and I have a lot of knowledge stored up to drop on you all at once!  Are you ready?

What could be more exciting than the holiday catalog, you ask?

  1. A sales tax holiday for back to school!  Stampin’ Up products are WAY nicer than anything I ever got for school when I was growing up, but it turns out some things in the annual catalog technically qualify as school supplies!  Hooray!  You can check HERE for what your state’s sales tax holiday dates are and what kinds of items are included.  For Alabama, the sales tax holiday is August 2-4 and includes the following items (basically, adhesive, scissors, and pens/markers under $50 per item):
    • 2-Way Glue Pen (item 100425) $4.50
    • Snail Adhesive (item 104332) $6.95
    • Snail Adhesive Refill (item 104331) $4.50
    • Sticky Strip (item 104294) $6.95
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals (item 104430) $3.95
    • Mini Glue Dots (item 103683) $4.95
    • Paper Snips (item 103579) $9.95

    • Brights Stampin’ Write Markers (item 131259) $28.95
    • Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers (item 131261) $22.95
    • Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive (item 110755) $3.95

    • 2012-2014 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers (item 126856) $14.95
    • 2013-2015 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers (item 131260) $14.95
    • Stampin’ Write Marker New Color Kit (item 130034) $28.95
  2. What’s even better than a sales tax holiday?  When Stephanie offers a FREE SHIPPING deal during the tax holiday!  If you place an order of $50 or more with me during the weekend of August 2-4 using the hostess code KUDNABB9 at checkout, I will reimburse your shipping costs!  If you are a local customer (Huntsville/Madison, AL area) you can just e-mail me your order and I’ll put it in for you.
