My downline invited me to her sweet daughter’s first birthday party this past weekend. In addition of the fun of seeing that cute little girl enjoy her first birthday cake, I was excited to make a card for her. When I saw that the theme was owls I immediately thought of the Nursery Nest DSP and the wee little owl stamp from the Aviary stamp set. Those are some of my favorites and they have been really neglected while I was busy making Christmas and Valentines stuff…so glad for an excuse to get these out and use them!
I think my card turned out cute but you should have seen all the party decorations – SO beautiful. There were cupcake toppers with owls and the birthday girl’s photo punched out with the scallop circle punch, treat bag toppers made with the Owl Builder punch, and just all kinds of cute decorations. Caren, you can make party decorations for me anytime! 🙂
Materials:
- Stamp Sets: Aviary (owls), Language of Friendship (branch/leaves), Take it to Heart (banner), Curly Cute (sentiment)
- Cardstock: Blushing Bride, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Nursery Nest DSP
- Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Old Olive
- Tools and Accessories: Big Shot with Labels Framelits, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sponge dauber, paper snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Tips: I stamped the owls and branches BEFORE I cut the Whisper White cardstock out using the framelit so I could be certain everything would be centered nicely. I never could have lined things up without my Stamp-a-ma-jig. Also, for the branch/leaves I used my Old Olive Stampin’ Write marker because that stamp has a bird image and wing on it as well and I wanted to ink only the one part of the stamp.
